I am Patient Chyee Morgan, an African woman with a deep understanding of resilience and faith. Born in Liberia and shaped by challenges, displacement, and war, I overcame adversity to establish a successful life in the United States. My journey—from selling in the marketplace as a child to owning Genuine African Braiding—has taught me that education is more than classroom learning; it is the ability to apply knowledge to life.

In 2021, during the adoption process of my two children in Monrovia, I witnessed the urgent need for education and faith-based guidance. This experience ignited my passion to give back by building a school and church for future generations.

On February 2, 1999, my husband and I married in Lomé, Togo. We arrived in the United States on November 24, 1999. Due to the war and my upbringing, my childhood education was disrupted, but while in the refugee camp, I earned a Business Degree in Ivory Coast. I also obtained my Cosmetology License in Lomé, Togo. In 2000, I attended Emily Griffith Opportunity School for Computer Studies.

On March 9, 2000, I opened my own business, Genuine African Braiding, which I still operate today. I love braiding hair because people come expecting just a hairstyle, but they leave with their hearts touched.

In 2002, we welcomed twin daughters, Julia and Sadie. On September 9, 2004, I became an American citizen.

Why This Project?

God is in every decision of my life

2016 had conversation with my brother about adopting my nephew, but put it aside. 2017 we bought a land in Hartsel. 2018 we were planning our 20 wedding vows renews for 2019 and started building our house in Hartsel also in 2018.

After the wedding February 2nd 2019, we started Adoption process. With God always designing our future We started working for one kid but got two instead of, because our God is in the business of overflowing our cup. for the adoption to be completed we have to go to Liberia in person both of us. But we decided for me to go, after not being back to Liberia for 25 years I agreed to go by myself. I arrive in Monrovia Liberia December 12, 2021

During my time there, I:
   1.    Distributed school supplies and other items to the local community.
   2.    Completed my children’s adoption.
   3.    Helped my sister care for eight children, including my two newly adopted kids.
   4.    Took charge of my father’s property—removing tenants and preparing for renovations.
   5.    Investigated land theft issues—one of my father’s properties had been resold to another person. We worked to reclaim it.
   6.    Helped my sister open a pharmacy by preparing the space to meet government regulations.

During those six months, I saw lost souls in need of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and children who lacked proper education. I also realized the importance of early education, as I saw firsthand how my adopted children struggled due to poor foundational learning.

Through a divine connection, I purchased land with an agreement to send payment a year after returning to the U.S., which I did. This entire experience reinforced my faith—God provided all my needs. A few hours after arriving back in the U.S., I was already back to work at my shop.
